Target Olympics

August 16th, 2013 at 05:20 pm

I have been a long time fan of Target's clearance. I love a good deal and don't like to pay full price for anything. I went to Target today; they have an additional 20% off their clearance clothes. You can't really beat 50% or 70% off and an additional 20% on top of that - or can you? I just downloaded the Cartwheel app for Target savings. Using this app saved me 15% more on several items. I also had a $3.00 coupon that I printed from target.com to use on my clothing purchase. Here's an example: Pajama pants originally $12.99, marked 50% off $6.48, extra 20% off now $5.18, extra 15% (Cartwheel) off now $4.40, bought with my Target red card, another 5% off now $4.18.

I feel like shopping at Target is now an Olympic competition for me. I don't want to miss a penny of savings, but I have to juggle sales, clearance, 2 phone apps (Cartwheel & Shopkick), manufacturer coupons, and Target coupons (print my own or the catalinas). Making sure that all the discounts are properly applied is a major challenge, and I'm a CPA!

I do suggest getting the Cartwheel app if you are a Target shopper. I'm sure Target knows way too much about my shopping habits, but anything to save a dollar, right?

Those pj pants are only a bargain if you need pj pants, having just trashed the pant whose usefulness deteriorated to just worn-out. Several years ago we negotiated a 'how much is enough' level for apparel so that everything easily fit in existing closet and drawer space. We all know that when something new comes in - we must relinquish and existing equivalent. It has nearly stopped all impulse shopping

Nice savings. I love shopping if I can get deals too.
Snafu - that is a good way to stop impulse spending. I will try to use that system. Not sure how successful I will be, but I can try.
